Fingerprinting Revisited

I received a comment to my posting about fingerprinting our students for buying lunch. I was shocked to discover what an issue it was in the UK. I've heard nothing much about it in the press. Apparently, many schools are using fingerprints or considering using them. Why aren't more parents concerned. Perhaps they are but don't think that they can do anything about it. My children are grown up now but I do have a concern for the students I teach. I will fight the school to ensure that they don't introduce such an intrusive and potentially dangerous measure. Thanks for the link, just checked it out. Hard to believe fingerprinting is the schools was ever considered. Good to see this issue has received negative press...and may it receive more negative press. Something that struck me from the article was the suggestion that the manufacturer of the fingerprinting technology is promoting the idea with schools. Seems that some school administrators are chumps.

A friend in USA has a tattoo on his lower left abdmonen. It is his blood type, B- I think. He tells me all the children in his grade school in Indiana were tattooed with their blood type during the cold war. I guess the goal was, in case af attack, to do blood transfusions without lab work. I'd never heard of this before but maybe it was commonly done. Anyway, thought it related to the fingerprinting debate.
