Another walk in the park
I came home from another walk in the park wondering if it was April and not March. There was blossom everywhere. The picture here is of a Camellia in bloom. It's not unusual for them to be in flower in February and March but the rhododendruns are more puzzling. The Observer today has an article about the early spring and reports an oak tree that never lost its leaves. It's wonderful to have this warm weather but you can't help but wonder what price we will pay.

Camellias, beautiful. I think the first time I eve saw them was last March in Sacramento. We plan to head down there on Wednesday.
There is a wonderful trail along the American River, east (I think that's the right direction) out of Sacramento. The cultivated flowers are not along the trail though. The ones I saw last year were on the State Legislature grounds so I guess they are Arnold's Camellias.
You mentioned that it's remarkable to have the rhodonedrons blooming now. What is the typical order of blooms in the spring? Is it snow drops, then daffodils, then..? Obviously, there are lots of variables, just wondering what is typical. I'm guessing lilacs are the last to bloom of what it considered the spring flowers.
Enjoying the British Spring vicariously It makes me think about the upcoming Pimms Cup season.
